Kristian Fletcher presents the Brisbane premiere of the Australian horror/adventure movie…

“THROWBACK” (2013) (93 min – screening 6.30pm)

Two modern-day treasure hunters go searching for the lost gold of a legendary outlaw in the remote wilds of Far North Queensland. But instead of riches, they find a different kind of legend, a ferocious Australian monster known as a Yowie, Australia’s answer to Bigfoot, and a savage battle for survival ensues. Thrown into the mix are a park ranger named Rhiannon and an embittered ex-homicide detective named McNab.

Inspired by classic Technicolor jungle films, ’50s monster movies and ’70s Bigfoot films, Throwback is an explosive feature filmed on location in Cairns.

Director Bain “wanted to make a monster movie, so I tried to think of one I could do on a low budget”.

“A good old fashioned creature flick from go to whoa – it’s got it all… action, adventure, blood, teeth, claws and hair – who could possibly ask for more?”

Veteran Australian actor Vernon Wells joins the cast as John McNab. Wells best known to audiences for his role of “Wez” in both Mad Max movies.
