Only ONE experience – can’t be missed!

To celebrate cult film director John Waters’ 70th birthday, Kristian Fletcher presents a weekend movie retrospective from April 16th to 17th at two exciting Brisbane venues – New Farm Cinemas and Fish Lane Studios, Fox Hotel, South Brisbane.

This event is officially recognised by John Waters himself!

Fish Lane Studios, located on the second floor of Fox Hotel, will be converted into the ultimate John Waters themed space. Immerse yourself in the world of the affectionately-titled ‘Pope of Trash’. A private studio with artwork, movie clips, posters, interactive exhibits, photographers and much more! A chill-out room will be playing rare clips and interview footage whilst patrons can have their make-up done in Divine-style (or even a pencil moustache!)

From 5pm is a 1960s DANCE PARTY with a DJ playing the best rock and pop music of the Sixties!
Dress in your best 60s outfits – there’s even a prize for Best Hairdo!
With licensed bar
Followed by a 7pm screening of the 1988 John Waters cult classic Hairspray (PG)
PLOT: Teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local television dance show.
Starring Divine, Ricki Lake, Debbie Harry and Sonny Bono.
This film inspired the hit Broadway musical and remake!

From 8.30pm, the mood will change for a DIVINE PARTY
With Divine music videos, movie clips, and a DJ playing an eclectic collection of songs from the soundtracks of John Waters.
Dress as your favourite John Waters character, plus there’s a prize for the Best Divine costume.
With licensed bar
Followed by a 9.30pm screening of the infamous 1972 John Waters cult classic Pink Flamingos starring Divine. (R18+)
PLOT: Two families battle it out for the title of ‘The Filthiest People Alive’.
Variety called it “one of the most vile, stupid and repulsive films ever made!” – but it is one of the funniest movies you will ever see!
**Screening completely uncut and uncensored – with every outrageous scene intact!**
