Synopsis:
For the first time, the acclaimed FLiCKERFEST comes to the Judith Wright Centre this February, showcasing the most entertaining and award-winning short films from Australia and around the world.
Australia’s only Academy® accredited and BAFTA recognised short film festival has handpicked exciting highlights from the record 2200 entries received for the 21st anniversary event held at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, creating a fantastic three-night programme of bite-sized chunks of cinematic treats for Brisbane audiences to feast on.
Reflecting on the unprecedented number of contenders who vied for a slot in the 2012 programme, Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd believes the impressive entry rate confirms FLiCKERFEST’s reputation as Australia’s largest and most respected short film competition.
“Our National Tour selection represents the most innovative, creative and cutting edge short films being produced in the world today and we look forward to Brisbane audiences being amongst the first to experience them as part of our 37 venue tour around the country,” says Bronwyn.
Over the past 21 years, FLiCKERFEST has provided a prestigious platform for many home grown filmmakers now
enjoying international careers, including Sundance awarded director David Michod (Animal Kingdom), Cannes Film Festival winner Warwick Thornton (Samson and Delilah), Andrew Lancaster (Accidents Happen), Patrick Hughes (Red Hill), Claire McCarthy (Waiting City) and Leon Ford (Griff the Invisible).

Short films require short reviews – Twitter-sized 140 characters or less!
By filming the highlights, sights and sounds of the festival and creating a fun review video.
I’d be about making short pithy reviews on twitter & encouraging dialogue about the films with a #flickfest140 hashtag.
Get a tshirt made ” I survived Flickerfest”
reviews looking at the big picture of short film
I would tell ten friends about it and get them to tell ten more friends so the number of people hearing about it goes up exponentially!
I will outrageously costume myself each day (referencing a short film in Flickerfest) & spend my time walking around the valley, when people ask “Why?” I shall illuminate them on the wonder of Flickerfest & encourage attendance. Also all film reviews shall be typewritten with linguistic passion and flair.
tweet tweet n tweet it. it isn’t unique but it works
