Synopsis:
Alarmed with recent talk of Shakespeare’s works becoming irrelevant to modern audiences, Petah Quince calls an emergency meeting. Viola, Lady Macbeth, Hamlet and others join forces to win back the audience. They decide there’s nothing for it but to launch into Shakespeare’s best bits immediately! (Of course there’s much debate over what constitutes the ‘best’ bits.) Included in this playful comic/tragic romp are scenes from Twelfth Night, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Showcasing nineteen of Harvest Rain’s 2010 interns, this high-energy, fast-paced adventure is sure to delight audiences!
“I’m really excited to be working on this production with a bunch of such enthusiastic, young performers,” says writer/director, Sarah McIntosh. “I love working on Shakespeare’s text, both as an actor and director. And as a writer it was a wonderful challenge and opportunity to create this playful show around the cast.” 2010 marks the second year of Harvest Rain’s Internship Program which is designed to develop and nurture the talent and abilities of the entertainment industry’s next generation.

It has to be the balcony scene in the Capulet’s orchard in Romeo and Juliet…
“See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!”
My all time favourite part of shakespeare is the three witches in Macbeth when they are putting the cauldron together full of disgusting like eye of newt and other bad things. Eerilly disgusting but beautiful at the same time! Love it!
My fav are the memorable quotes.
“to be or not to be”
“if music be the food of love, play on”
“what light though yonder window breaks”
“Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears”
Such moving words.
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players…”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, for sure. The scene where both Demetrius and Lysander are in love with Helena, and she is annoyed, and Hermia is trying to get back Lysander. Pure gold! Or one of the final scene; the acting troupe finally performing their play. The best production I ever saw of it was Harvest Rain’s 2008 production – aboslutely hilarious!
“Have more than thou showest, speak less than thou knowest, lend less than thou owest”.
King Lear
What a brilliantly written and wonderfully executed conglomeration of the best of Shakespeare’s great plays. The simple stage, props and lighting did not detract from the performance that showcased some of Brisbane’s fine young talent. A hilarious mish mash of well known scenes in a very quirky style. Highly recommended!
