My mother took me when I was a child (it was my first musical). Now I’m grown up I’d love to repay the favour and take her!
My first encounter with Jesus Christ Superstar was actually Harvest Rain’s production in 2002. It was the first musical I ever saw and I’ve been a musical theatre and Harvest Rain fan ever since.
my first experience with Jesus Christ superstar was also my first experience with musicals! When I was in primary school my mum and dad took me to see it performed as an amateur production at the Schonell theatre at UQ. I was gobsmacked and hooked from the opening scene right through until the end! Everything amazed me – the singing, the dancing, the costumes, the lighting, everything. I was in heaven and have been addicted ever since!
It means the 70s to me; a simpler, hairier time full of peace, love and hippies.
And that’s how I remember it, even if it wasn’t true.
Back in my high school years, it was one of my high school musicals! LOL! I would love to be there on opening night, watching Harvest Rain’s production – It will be a wonderful performance.
The only “Superstar” production I’ve seen, is the one with John Farnham, Kate Ceberano & Jon Stevens, performing in it. I would love to see Harvest Rain’s version, because Harvest Rain puts on excellent shows. Their reputation for high quality musicals are awesome.
I heard Kate Cebrano singing the title song on the ARIAs or something one year. I remember just being spellbound by how amazing the song was. A definite show-stopper that gave me chills just as Nessun Dorma does whenever I hear it. I’ve never actually seen a production of it though, so it would be a real novelty.
How does one choose between th original, and the revival, both share the same storie not what so ever has been changed story wise but theme is a different story.
If i were forced to choose I would say A a fusion of both the original and the revival but more on the revival side, due to the AMAZING costumes, the characterizations, and the post apocalyptic feel of the story set in a pre apocalyptic world
Jesus Christ Superstar was the first musical that my parents took my sister and I to. We grew up in Fiji without television and we often listened to our parents records. One of our favourties was “Jesus Christ Superstar” the original production. We knew every song by heart as the album had the words written on the cover. Needless to say when we went to the musical is was the most magical thing we had ever seen or heard. I still to this day remember the people in the musical, Jon English, Trevor White etc. Nothing could ever beat this musical for me.
high school back in the dark ages, bought the LP sang themusic that was always in my head and can still remember it
