One Night Only Event – September 3!
SYNOPSIS:
Scott Alan is one of Broadway’s most promising up and coming composers, and over the last ten years his incredible music has touched the hearts of people all over the world!
Scott’s debut album, Dreaming Wide Awake, is regarded the world over as a modern masterpiece and his songs Home, I’m a Star and Never Neverland became instant musical theatre classics the moment the album was released. Two years ago, he released his second album entitled Keys, featuring the much loved song The Distance You Have Come. It seems everyone Broadway is eager to record or perform with Scott – his music has been made famous by Shoshana Bean, Stephanie J Block, Eden Espinosa, Natalie Weiss and more.
Scott’s Brisbane concert will be his Australian debut performance and is the second in Harvest Rain Theatre Company’s BROADWAY TO BRISVEGAS series in which Brisbane audiences will at last be able to enjoy performances from Broadway stars in their own city. Harvest Rain’s Artistic Director Tim O’Connor says, “After bringing Shoshana Bean to Australia and seeing the enormous public response to the Broadway to Brisvegas idea, I’m really excited at the prospect of bringing such a well respected composer as Scott Alan to Brisbane in September. I first heard his music a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with it, so much so that we made his song THE DISTANCE YOU HAVE COME our official anthem at Harvest Rain for 2010, our 25th anniversary year. Having the chance to listen to this incredible man perform his own music right here in Brisbane is something I am very much looking forward to.”
Scott’s music is haunting, touching, memorable and simply outstanding, and after sold out concerts in London, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Brisbane audiences now have the chance to get a taste of Broadway magic when Scott performs his songs for one night only at the Brisbane Powerhouse in September. The winners of Harvest Rain’s Show Scott What You’ve Got competition have now been announced – Australian musical theatre performers Ellen Reed and Jennifer Reed together with American youngster Jesse Michels were selected by Scott from hundreds of entrants who applied for the opportunity to perform with Scott at his Brisbane concert by uploading a video of themselves performing to YouTube. The competition was open to applicants from all over the world, and Brisbane-based Ellen, Melbourne-based Jennifer and Minneapolis-based Jesse will join Scott onstage at his Brisbane concert, together with special guest Tod Strike.

Wicked would have to be my favourite Broadway show!!
The sets, the lighting, the characters, the story and the voices are all so “THRILLIFYING”!!!
I have definitely been “changed for good” after watching it in Sydney a while back.
And I cannot WAIT until it comes to Brisbane in January next year
A Chorus Line. First live professional musical I ever saw! I sat in a theatre in Sydney with my father as a wide-eyed teenager watching as this story unfolded on stage before me. It had a non existent set, but huge characters, fantastic music and amazing dancing – best introduction to the theatre a person could ever have!
My favourite Broadway show is Jesus Christ Superstar because, after studying it in school 8 years ago and finally seeing it done in Brisbane recently, the message is the same, but the awe value of it just get better and better!
it gotta be Wicked, saw it in sydney when i went there for work training. Though it was a short trip but best trip ever cos i got to watch wicked!
My favourite broadway show has to be west side story.
After a traumatic childhood of being forced to endure musicals like “Oklahoma!” and “South Pacific” – I think I’ll have to go with “Chicago” as my favourite broadway show – love the music – enjoyed the film version as well!
My favourite broadway show is Cats
